Alex Coal

Alex Coal in Scissors

A long-standing interest in horror met a new screen role when Alex Coal joined Harry Sparks’s slasher film. The project brought her into an ensemble built around a masked killer and a group of college friends.

Joining the ensemble

Sparks Entertainment announced Coal’s casting in May 2023. At that stage, her character was deliberately unnamed in the announcement.

Coal said she was excited by the script’s intensity and expected horror fans to enjoy it. Sparks welcomed the energy she brought to her performances.

A familiar genre, a new role

The finished cast list identifies Coal as Dr. Jane Bates. The ensemble also includes Jill Kassidy, Avery Jane, Lilly Bell and Tommy Pistol, with Harry Sparks directing.

The distributor describes Scissors as a tribute to slasher cinema of the 1970s and 1980s. Its story follows college student Courtney and her friends as a killer clown hunts them.

From announcement to release

The project was introduced with a crowdfunding campaign, giving audiences an early glimpse of the planned production. Coal joined while the film was still being assembled.

By 2025, Scissors was listed as a released horror film. It forms a distinct credit in her career, connecting her established work in front of the camera with a genre she had already discussed enjoying.
